Collapse ▲The inaugural Grand Farm Tour across Sampson County on September 21, 2024 was a huge success! Twenty-five participants, some locals and some from over an hour away, joined together for fun and fellowship while learning about Sampson County agriculture and agritourism. The tour began at Twiddle Dee Farm, a beautifully landscaped NC Century Farm just south of Clinton, which offers a unique, relaxing farm getaway through a farm membership.
The second stop on the tour took us to Wilders Farm, a large, beautiful Wagyu beef cattle operation. Wilders’ main focus is beef but they also grow pasture-raised Berkshire pork and have a few cow-working horses on site. Wilders offers a general store for visitors to purchase their beef and pork products, as well as their online store.
Lunch was next, taking us to the Midway community for a relaxing and tasty lunch of NC grown pork, chicken, and vegetables at Midway Grillin’, with one of their famous apple jacks for dessert!
After this amazing meal, we ventured to the beautiful Rich Farm and Venue, nestled between Salemburg and Roseboro. With the inaugural Gatsie Ruth Festival happening the same day, we had the unique opportunity to mingle with many others for shopping with local craft and food vendors, hear live music and watch many outdoor activities.
Right down the road in Roseboro was our next stop to Cork and Brew. Another amazing, beautifully decorated coffee shop to relax and experience a sweet snack, coffee or fruit beverage.
Our final farm stop on the tour took us through Garland to Ingold, for a visit to the first winery of Sampson County: First Miracle Vine & Wine. The winery offered a warm welcome, filled with wine tasting and scrumptious snacks to pair with the wine choices. Owners shared the history of this quaint vineyard and tasting room, along with their beautiful, historic farm stay within walking distance.
