While we all continue to make adjustments to the new normal in our lifestyle and communities, I think we can all agree that now, more than ever, we appreciate where our food comes from and the long hours and hard work that our farmers put in each day to provide safe, nutritious, and wholesome food for our country and communities. Whether large or small, local producers work diligently to grow the nutritious fruit, vegetables, dairy, and protein that feed us three times a day, through the many challenges Mother Nature sends our way, and now as we all deal with Coronavirus.

It’s so easy to be frustrated and disappointed with the challenges we all face, but there are so many ways we can be thankful. One that I would like to highlight today is the new Visit NC Farms marketing App that we are fortunate to have brought to Sampson County, which will not only create connections to finding local products and supporting our local agribusinesses, but also bring new visitors into the amazing agricultural community that we all appreciate.

So, what is the Visit NC Farms App, and why should you be interested in it? With North Carolina being the 6th most visited state in the nation, and historically having 51 million visitors per year, the App is an easy to use, helpful, high-tech resource to connect our local agricultural community to citizens across North Carolina. All NC welcome centers and state farmers markets have marketing materials for visitors, and the App is certainly part of this marketing initiative. For Sampson County, we have 41 local agribusiness assets enrolled across the eight categories of the App – which are: Farms & Fisheries, Pick your Own, Farmers Markets, Local Food & Drink, Shop Local, Farm Stays & Lodging, Tours & Trails, and Special Events. As businesses have announcements to share and events happen in Sampson County, push notifications will be shared on the App and will come directly to phones and devices of those who have downloaded the App, so don’t miss out on this great opportunity to stay in touch, especially in the most diverse agricultural county of our state! To download the app, visit the Apple or Android store on your phone and search “Visit NC Farms”. For more information on the app visit

The Visit NC Farms app is supported by many sponsors across North Carolina, with statewide expansion funding being provided by the NC Tobacco Trust Fund Commission. In Sampson, we are fortunate to have this sponsorship, in addition to tremendous support from the Sampson County Convention Center and Visitors Bureau.
