The 9th Annual Welcome Baby Coat Drive is underway now. Every year as it starts to get colder the demand for coats for kids goes way up. The Welcome Baby Coat Drive is one way you can directly help a young child in the Durham community. Welcome Baby distributes coats as families come by to pick up clothing and diapers for their children. Families are given one coat for each child. This amounts to a lot of coats as roughly 40-50 families are seen each Friday.

If you would like to donate, new or gently used coats are being accepted from now until January 7, 2022. The sizes of coats needed are from newborn to sizes 7/8.

Drop boxes are located in the following locations to make dropping off your donation as easy as possible.

Donations can be dropped off at

Welcome Baby, 721 Foster St   from 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Durham County North Regional Library, 221 Milton St, 9:30 a.m.-8:00 p.m.
