Collapse ▲Caldwell County 4-H invites youth ages 5-18 and their families to participate this fall and winter. In addition to our local 4-H Clubs, some special events are planned to help us connect, learn and have fun together!
All youth are required to be enrolled in 4-H Online to participate. Enrollment is free. Please check for event registrations below for more details, as some have limited space and may charge a fee.
Countywide Events This Fall and Winter
Saturday, October 2: Anita Alta Family Day
- Who? Families with youth ages 5-18 are invited to come and participate as a family. Youth must be enrolled in 4-H Online.
- What? This family day focuses on outdoor recreation and education, and it will be free of charge.
- When and where? 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Anita Alta Outpost 4-H Camp in northern Caldwell County.
- Cost? It is free to attend, but youth must be actively enrolled in 4-H Online (free).
October 3-9: National 4-H Week
- Who? All actively enrolled 4-H members, volunteers and local alumni
- What, when and where? Celebrate National 4-H Week in one or more ways locally.
- Options include attending Anita Alta Family Day (above) on SATURDAY, October 2 to kick off the week.
- On MONDAY, October 4, join us for the statewide Premier of Champions event, honoring Gold Winners in Record Books, Presentations, Scholarships, and National Trips. This will begin at 7 p.m. on the North Carolina 4-H Facebook Page.
- On THURSDAY, October 7 the Dr. Kim Ingold 4-H Photography Contest winners will be announced on the North Carolina 4-H Facebook Page from 7–8 p.m.
- ALL WEEK, members, volunteers and alumni are invited to show their 4-H pride by wearing green or sporting 4-H clovers. Leading up to the week, stop by the Extension Center to pick up a special NC 4-H emblem (clover) sticker of your own.
- Cost? Events and stickers are free. Youth must be actively enrolled in 4-H Online to attend Anita Alta Family Day with their family.
Monday, October 11: 4-H Night at the Farm
NO REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED, BUT YOUTH MUST BE ENROLLED
- Who? All enrolled 4-H members, whether club members or members at large are invited.
- What? Learn about agriculture by visiting a farm!
- When and Where? This is hosted by Livestock 4-H Club at Johnny Wilson Farm’s Pumpkin Patch (in conjunction with their regular meeting) at 6:30 p.m.
- Cost? It is free to attend, but youth must be actively enrolled in 4-H Online (free).
Saturday, October 23: Galactic Quest
- Who? A scientist named Melissa from NC State University will facilitate this 4-H STEM event for youth ages 8-14 and their parents/guardians.
- What? Galactic Quest explores the history of humans in space, the technology and resources needed for missions, and the obstacles humans encounter in orbit. Activities explore important STEM topics ranging from physics and engineering to computer science and space agriculture.
- When and where? This will be held at the civic center in Lenoir beginning at 1 p.m. on October 23.
- Cost? The cost is $10 per youth participant and youth must be actively enrolled in 4-H Online (free).

In-Person Guidelines
We are excited to be able to offer in-person programs this fall. Caldwell County 4-H does have its own set of guidelines and standards for in-person programs at this time. Youth and families are expected to review them and abide by them when attending in-person functions. We look forward to seeing you soon!
