Virtual Based Program Building Healthy Habits for Youth

Are your children interested in taking  a virtual nutrition education course? If so, Kickin Nutrition is the course that you are looking for. KickinNutritionTV (KNTV) is an innovative, evidence-based, digital program designed to educate, entertain, and empower kids to make healthier food and lifestyle choices. KNTV is anchored in technology – featuring engaging videos and interactive learning tools designed for youth and their families. The program utilizes comedy, hip music, and research-based, peer-to-peer videos offering online nutrition instruction, cooking demonstration and exercise videos. The program is aligned with the common core by grade and was developed by an award-winning former Executive Producer of Sesame Street International, in collaboration with experts from Boston University, Harvard School of Public Health, and Tufts University.

Kickin Nutrition is a 6 week program for rising 4th-7th graders, classes will be held once a week from 11 a.m.-12 p.m., beginning on June 23rd, 2020. Be on the lookout for more information and registration instructions.

Faithful Families Virtual Walking Challenge

We are excited to announce the first ever ALL Faithful Families challenge event! Join Faithful Families and partners across the country for the Virtual Walking Challenge, as we stay connected while being physically distanced. During these uncertain times, let’s support each other by staying healthy, staying strong, and moving more.

What is the Virtual Walking Challenge?

The challenge is a fun way to encourage you, your family, and your faith community to be more physically active. Each week of the event, you will receive a newsletter with quick tips and ideas for staying active and connected during this pandemic. Using the Walking Challenge Log, you will keep track of how much you walk each day. For every 10 minutes of walking, you will receive 1 point. At the end of the challenge, you will count the total number of points you have accumulated throughout the four weeks.

Pickling and Fermenting Infosheet

Pickling and fermenting are great ways to preserve foods, but it is important to follow the proper processing steps. Unsafe methods could result in growth of harmful pathogens, such as Clostridium botulinum, an anaerobic pathogen responsible for most canned food outbreaks. Reports of acid resistant Escherichia coli have been linked with products with a pH below 4.0 (same range as properly pickled and fermented products), emphasizing the importance of safe processing.

That White Envelope May Be Worth $1,200

If you haven’t received your Economic Impact Payment (EIP) yet, perhaps you should be on the lookout for a white envelope. Here’s why. EIPs were first distributed to the bank accounts of those who have in the past (2018, 2019 tax years or used Get My Payment to sign-up) used direct deposit to receive tax refunds. Next, paper checks were sent to filers not using direct deposit.
