Earlier this month, researchers at North Carolina State University predicted that the 2015 Atlantic hurricane season will be significantly less active than the overall averages from 1950 to the present. Dr. Lian Xie, professor of marine, earth and atmospheric sciences at NC State predicted that the 2015 season should see four to six named storms forming in the Atlantic compared to the average of approximately 11 named storms.

Even though this forecast is encouraging, it is urgent that you prepare for hurricane season before a storm arrives. The best time to make preparations is right now.
